It is the "snapshot" of the current state of the mouth, essential for proper clinical evaluation.

It allows assessment of:

• the growth of teeth in children during the developmental age;

• the general condition of teeth and dental arches before dental surgery;

• the presence of cysts, inflammation, granulomas, bony lesions and other pathologies that may affect the dental arches, which are not detectable by visual investigation;

• the presence of malformations affecting the teeth;

• the morphology of the mandible, in order to detect temporomandibular joint dysfunction;

• identify possible presence of neoplasms of the mandible or maxilla;

• in orthodontics, in cases of implants or surgery to monitor the course.
