Depending on the stage of development of periodontitis (Pyorrhea) there are various types of treatment.

Prevention and periodic specialist examination positively modify the type of treatment to be performed.

In advanced stages of pyorrhea, surgical therapies should be used:

Resective clinical crown lengthening surgery

To gain space for crown support, in the absence of dental tissue, gingival tissue is removed, lowering the bone levels around the tooth thus increasing the size of the tooth.

Regenerative periodontal pocket surgery

After nonsurgical therapy, if there are still residual periodontal pockets, bone regeneration must be performed: the procedure consists of reconstructing the missing bone with the goal of maintaining the patient's tooth for as long as possible.

Cmucogingival cosmetic surgery

If, due to periodontitis, there are gingival recessions that can create tooth sensitivity or aesthetic discomfort, surgery can be performed to restore gingival tissue to its native position.

Rhizectomy

Performed on molars when there is severe bone loss at a root, it involves separation and extraction of the root.

Rhizotomy

The crown of the tooth is separated with a horizontal cut, directed from the occlusal surface to the floor of the pulp chamber but is not extracted. It is performed on molars in cases of bone resorption in the area where the roots bifurcate.
